While we do not sell any POS Hardware ourselves, in order to help you easily find the right POS Hardware that is fully compatible to our POS Software and avoid the rare POS Hardware that isn’t compatible, in here we have compiled a list of the POS Hardware requirements for all categories, as well as a list of some POS Hardware retailers that are very familiar with our POS software and its requirements.
What to buy:
PC Computer Requirements
Processor: 400 MHz Pentium processor or equivalent (Minimum); 1GHz Pentium processor or equivalent (Recommended)
RAM: 96 MB (Minimum); 256 MB (Recommended)
Hard Disk: 280 MB (Minimum); 850 MB (Recommended)
Display: 1024 x 600, 256 colors (Minimum); 1024 x 768 high color, 32-bit (Recommended)
Barcode Scanner Requirements
Receipt Printer Requirements
Make sure your printer, regardless if purchased new or used, comes with Windows drivers, since our software is a 100% Windows software, it only works with properly installed Windows compatible devices, so just make sure this printer works for your version of Windows and it comes with its factory original Windows drivers.
Another thing to consider, if you are interested in an electronic cash drawer in the future, you must make sure that this printer will be capable of opening a cash drawer and when you purchase this cash drawer you must make sure it is compatible to this printer.
Be careful, the lower priced and most affordable receipt printers are usually good just for out-dated Windows versions…
Many older printer models are sold at a very low and affordable price (they may be even new printers – but old model years), however their drivers and these printers are only capable of running on Windows 7 or Windows XP or some other older operating system and if you have a newer operating system, like Windows 8 or 10, then you will not be able to use that printer unless you find some-kind of general aftermarket driver for your Windows version. However, while that quick-fix will make that printer “barely work” on your Windows, it will not work well with our software (our software requires factory original drivers, in order to work well with the printer). So just make sure the printer comes with factory original drivers and that those drivers and that printer model, can be installed with its original out-of-the-box factory drivers on your exact version of Windows.
Also pay attention to the architecture of your Windows, whether it is 32bit or 64bit, because too many of the “affordable” printer models still selling out there, come with drivers only capable of running on 32bit Windows, so if you have a 64bit Windows, that will be a big problem. To put it in simpler terms, when you see a great deal on a receipt printer, simply make sure that this printer works out of the box, with the factory provided drivers, on your exact Windows version – that is all [too many times these great deals cannot work on anything newer than Windows 7 – 32bit, which means big problems for you if you have let’s say Windows 8 – 64bit].
Cash Drawer Requirements
Magnetic Stripe Reader Requirements
a) Swiping credit cards for customer’s purchases (instead of manually entering every digit of information from every single card); Keep in mind that many credit card processors nowadays require a special card reader that is only provided by their company and specially encrypted only for their solution, so that they increase credit card processing security and stop fraud/theft. So talk to your processor before buying a standard card reader which may not be compatible with them.
b) Swiping security clearance cards (manager’s passwords can be impressed on magnetic cards);
c) Swiping employee security clearance / log in / time clock cards (employee’s ID # can be impressed on magnetic cards).
Technically speaking all the USB and PS2, “3 Track” magnetic card readers work with our software, just watch out and do not buy any serial port magnetic card readers because this is a very old standard, therefore these readers would be very old or from an old stock. Even if the USB and PS2 , “3 Track” magnetic card reader comes with no drivers because they are plug-and-play compatible, this shouldn’t be a problem at least for credit card reading, but if you run it to some that require drivers make sure they include Windows compatible drivers. As long as you purchase brand new equipment you should not have any problems and our software works with all of them.
Barcode Printer Requirements
Touch Screen Monitor Requirements
Pole Display Requirements
We recommend the POS-X pole displays (like the POS-X XP8200 models), as most compatible to our software and most thoroughly tested with our software or any other models and brands that actually support the EPSON POSD101 and EPSON POS D202 mode commands and work with COM Port serial connection / interface or USB Serial connection interface of the type RS232 (not all USB devices are accepted, only RS232).
Weigh Scale Requirements
We recommend those Weigh Scales that operate in either one of these two modes, as the compatible Weigh Scales to our software.
The “ECR – NCI” is a mode of work or protocol, not to be confused with a brand name (even though there is a NCI brand name weight scale manufacturer [and of course they support the “ECR – NCI” mode/protocol]).
So this mode of work or protocol (“ECR – NCI”) encompass many different brands and many models of weight scales.
You need to look for scales that have a setting/mode/protocol called “ECR – NCI”.
Also keep in mind that scales usually have more modes that they can work with and they are simply switched with a switch or through their software drivers, to set them or switch them from one to another mode (to select the mode you desire to use). So just because you have purchased a weight scale advertised to work in the mode that you need, it does not mean it will be set to that mode right out of the box for you. You may need to check which mode it is set to by the factory as default and you may need to switch it to the one you need (in our case”ECR – NCI” ).
Here are some other modes of work for scales (but these are NOT compatible to our software) :
8213 – (usually associated with the Sharp brand)
2250 – (usually associated with the Swintec brand)
TEC – MA-1535/1595 compatible (usually associated with the TEC brand)
ATT – (usually associated with the AT&T brand)
o4000 – (usually associated with the Olympia brand)
Now we are not telling you to stay away from these brands, because usually the weight scales from these brands will also have 5-6 modes of work that they are compatible with and you just need to make sure they are set to “ECR – NCI” and that “ECR – NCI” is an option.
